Is this harmful to my guitar?
I play bass and guitar at my church. On Sunday mornings, I play in the sanctuary. I have to tune to the piano whose A is 436 Hz. On Wednesdays, I play for the youth group, and the Keyboard there has an A at 460 Hz. For the rest of the week, I have my guitar tuned to standard 440 Hz. Are these adjustments harmful to my guitar?
No – but your intonation might be a little off around the 12th fret and whatnot, and you might want to carry an extra set of strings around with you, in case you might snap a string tuning up to 460. Best to be on the safe side.
